April 2022 ISWG

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

April 6 question – Have any of your books been made into audio books? If so, what is the main challenge in producing an audiobook?

The awesome co-hosts for the April 6 posting of the IWSG are Joylene Nowell Butler, Jemima Pett, Patricia Josephine, Louise – Fundy Blue, and Kim Lajevardi!

Now the question above is optional and I do not have any books that became audio books. If you have been following me for a while you’d know I am working on two projects, one in it’s first draft and the other on its second.

The only question on my mind is this: how do I deal with burn out? I have been experiencing it for a while, and I am not talking about writers block. That I know how to handle, writing snippets of something I am interested in or making AUs where my characters exist in. I need some advice on it besides taking a break since I am in Camp NaNoWriMo for this month. I do plan on doing that, maybe for two or so days. I don’t know what I should do and I am puzzled over this situation.

  1. It’s different for each of us, Vani. I slow down on my work in progress while studying something that parallels my writing interests. The change of venue helps with my current project while renewing my mind. For example, I recently took courses on making videos, which helped me streamline my message to readers.

  2. I’m not sure I understand the difference between writer’s block and writer’s burnout. I found this definition online from Ellen Daforge: “Writer’s block is when you get to the page and can’t seem to to write anything. It can be transient, and you can usually work through it. Burnout is when you want to get as far away from writing as possible, and never want to write again. It’s often caused by stress and overwork.” I hope it helps because it sounds like you still love writing.
